Spheronisation, Pelletisation and Marumerisation all mean the same thing. The manufacture of small round pellets with a limited size spread within a batch. Pellet sizes (sometimes called micropellets or spheroids) can be normally be made within tight size ranges between about 0.5mm and 2.0mm in diameter.

Caleva Process Solutions is well known for its development of small scale equipment to monitor and develop formulations and manufacturing processes.

The “Caleva Mini Kit” is a set of three components designed to work together.

The Mini-kit is made up of:-

• The Mixer Torque Rheometer (MTR-3) for giving a quantified measurement describing properties of the powder to binder ratio in the formulation.
• The Caleva R&D Mini Screw Extruder will allow the extrusion of a few grams of material.
• A Caleva Multi Bowl Spheronizer system capable of working with quantities of a few grams of extruded product.
• The Caleva Mini Coater/drier for the drying and coating of small quantities (a few grams) of pharmaceutical pellets.

This system will  facilitate product development, with scale up potential, with very small samples of material (as little as 80g).
